Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 3, 2026

In short: Dark and Void store what they need to work, Void counts your activity without storing the text of your messages, we do not sell your data, and your data from a server is deleted 24 hours after you leave it.

Who is responsible

Noir Studios is responsible for the data processed by its bots Dark and Void. Contact: [contact email].

Data both bots store

Both bots store Discord identifiers: your user ID and the IDs of the servers, channels, roles and messages they interact with. Neither stores your Discord email, password or payment details.

Data Dark stores

  • Characters: name, system, attributes, sheet, experience, inventory, gold, loans and debts, favors between characters, and the GM's edit history.
  • GM content: races, classes, equipment, spells and other JSON files, reference books and logos you upload.
  • Events and sessions: sign-ups, attendance, character reviews, reminders and your time zone.
  • Voice rooms: who created each room, templates and shortened game names. The bot reads the game shown in your Discord status to name the room, without keeping a history.
  • Preferences: dice set and panel colors.

Data Void stores

  • Activity: for each message, who sent it, in which channel and when, without its content. For voice, when you join and leave, the channel and the game shown in your status.
  • Joins and leaves: when you join or leave a server, which invite you used and who created it, for the logs the server turns on.
  • Events: sign-ups, chosen roles, groups, attendance, reminders and time zone.
  • Boosters: your custom role and channel and, if you set it up, your Twitch or YouTube channel to announce when you go live.
  • FFXIV roleplay profiles: what you write in your profile, which is posted in the server's forum.
  • Moon sign-ups: the code you submit goes to the server's log channel; the bot only stores the service configuration.
  • Premium: which servers have Premium and which users or roles hold activations.
  • Configuration: channels, roles, templates, counters, exclusions and rewards the server sets up.

Reading messages

Both bots can read message content because some wizards, such as event creation, ask you for answers by direct message or in the channel. They only use your answers to those wizards. They do not store or analyze the rest of your conversations.

How we use it

  • Show and edit sheets, roll dice, and track the economy and favors (Dark).
  • Compute leaderboards, charts and reward roles, and post the logs the server turns on (Void).
  • Run events, send reminders and manage voice rooms (both).
  • Know which servers have Premium (Void).

We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Legal basis

We process this data because it is needed to provide the service you request when you use the bots, and for the legitimate interest of each server's admins in running their community.

Who it is shared with

What the bots post on Discord can be seen by server members according to each channel's permissions. Data travels through Discord's infrastructure, which is covered by Discord's own privacy policy.

Dark sends no data to any service outside Discord. Void does so in one case only: if a booster sets up their Twitch or YouTube channel, it queries the public Twitch and YouTube (Google) APIs with that channel name or ID to check whether they are live. Neither bot uses external AI, advertising or analytics.

Where it is stored

Data is stored in each bot's databases on a server run by Noir Studios. We take reasonable measures to protect it, but no system is completely secure.

How long we keep it

  • If you leave a server, your data from that server is deleted after 24 hours: your characters in Dark and your activity in Void. If you come back sooner, nothing is deleted.
  • If you no longer share any server with a bot, your global data is also deleted: dice preferences and Changeling content in Dark, Premium activations in Void.
  • The rest of your GM library in Dark is kept until you delete it with the content_remove commands or ask us to delete it.
  • A server's configuration is kept while the bot is in it. If you remove the bot, you can ask us to delete it.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to [contact email] with your Discord user ID and the bot's name. Depending on your country, you can also object to processing or complain to your data protection authority.

Children

The bots are not meant for anyone under the minimum age Discord requires. If you think we have stored data from such a person, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with its date. For important changes, we will also announce them on the support server.
